Junior High Student Programs
Amplify Teaching Series
Who is Jesus? Do you really understand what Jesus said about himself? The goal of this series is to help you know Jesus, to see him for who he is, and to be able to talk about him with others. Junior High Pastor, Nick Madsen, will be teaching this series at Amplify on Wednesday nights.

These programs are focused on the growth and spiritual maturity of the students. This the best shot at educating them in areas of faith, life, morality, etc.
Sunday Morning Bible Study
6th-8th Grade Students
Time: Sunday at 9:15 AM
Location: Room 102
Curriculum: Christian Story
Objective: In three years students will get a well-rounded understanding of who Jesus is and what His Church should look like. This class is a study of the books of Luke & Acts as well as a study of how the Old Testament plays into the story of Jesus.
6th - 8th Grade Students
Time: Wednesday at 6:30 PM
Location: Room 100 & Various Rooms for Small Groups
Program: Worship, Scripture Reading, Prayer, Message, Small Group
Objective: Every Wednesday night the Junior High will join Senior High in worship, have time for prayer, then the Junior & Senior High School Students separate to hear a Bible message, and afterwards they will have small group time as they unpack what they just heard from the message that was presented to them.
Location: Camp Spring Lake in Rosemount, MN
Objective: We gather our students together, and get them away for a concentrated time to grow deeper with God. The weekend includes worship, small group discussions, fun activities, good food, and a speaker. Our goal is to grow deeper in our relationships with each other and with God.
Time: Various weeks in June or July (Depending on Grade Level)
Location: Pine Haven Christian Assembly (PHCA) – Park Rapids, MN
Objective: This week is aimed at looking at chosen theme for the week and how it applies to life outside of the week at camp. The goal is to guide the students in a better and more sustainable faith when they go home. Worship, small groups, large groups, speaking, panel discussions, and classes are tools used during the week.
WinterBlast Retreat (Winter Retreat)
5th-6th Grade Students
A retreat for 2nd - 6th Graders that happens each year near the beginning of March. We have special activities like skating, pump it up, and others. We have a live worship band and a special speaker. This is a great weekend for kids to make friends and be encouraged to grow in their faith. Look for upcoming Winter Blast info on the Children & Family Eventspage.
Relationships are an important facet of the Christian faith and there need to be opportunities for students to grow socially, as well. Learning from each other and growing together are important parts of life and those skills should be developed early. This is achieved through fun planned outings and sometimes spontaneous get-togethers.
Small Group Events
Objective: Each small group is encouraged to meet together outside of church a couple times each year. It is important for the students to interact with each other outside of a typical church setting.
Objective: It's our overnight party with games, movies, and a devotional. This is a very popular outreach event as many students bring friends.
Night Games, Nerf War, Summer Kick-Off, Fall Kick-Off, Etc.
Objective: These are chances for the entire youth group to enjoy each other’s company and time together. These events will be promoted and communicated in a timely manner and will include a wide variety of possibilities.
Service is a very encouraged part of the Christian life and many opportunities are given to grow in this area. Some of these events are out-service related, where the act benefits those outside of Valley, while others are in-service, wherein the act benefits the youth group or church.
Feed My Starving Children
Location: Eagan, MN
Objective: The youth will have an opportunity to, on their own, team up with World Outreach every month to participate in packing meals. It also includes wonderful team-building opportunities and the chance to get to know other youth and church members better.
Pumpkin Patch Festival
Time: October 31 at 6:00 PM
Objective: This is a service opportunity to the Children’s Ministry and the residents of our community. The goal is to staff the different booths and games and be a welcoming presence for the children and parents that attend.
Children's Musical Food Service:
Objective: The youth have a wonderful opportunity to help serve the kids, their families, and all other guests that attend the musical dinner theater. Students are responsible for serving the meal.
Time: Wednesdays at 5:00 PM
Location: Room 100
Objective: An opportunity for young musicians to learn their craft and experience what it is like to help lead in music part of our worship. It gives them a chance to become proficient with their instrument but also the teamwork needed.
Lakota Youth Camp Mission Trip
Location: Louisville, NE
Objective: A mission trip that is all about loving on elementary kids from the Lakota Native American Reservations in South Dakota. The students plan, implement, and perform every aspect of this trip; everything form teaching, to crafts, to games is done by them. It's a great exercise in leadership training, but also very cross-cultural experience.
