![]() SPRING HOPENOTES MAGAZINE Greetings! Thank you for your continued support of HopeKids Minnesota as we spring into a new season of serving over 1,400 families. Take a minute to look at the Spring HopeNotes Magazine which highlights the impact you have made since HopeKids launched its first chapter in 2001. HopeKids' ongoing calendar of events wouldn't be possible without the support of committed donors, volunteers and event partners. Thank you for providing hope for the future to families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition! With Hope, Brian Anderson, Executive Director HopeKids Minnesota ![]() Dear Friends of HopeKids, In 2018, your support provided 504 events to 1,409 families - many days, multiple events were taking place! More importantly, you provided a safe community for families to meet others who understand the toll that medical bills and hospital visits can have on families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition. A two-hour event can have a lasting impact when you meet new friends who become family. "I can’t explain the feeling we had being surrounded by parents who 'get it.' It was wonderful being somewhere we don’t feel out of place. Each and every person understood Sawyer and what it’s like to live in our shoes. It’s wonderful to be able to exhange information and ideas with families, as well. We had a wonderful time and feel so blessed to have found HopeKids to help us feel included in an oftentimes excluded life." - Francie, Sawyer’s mom Your generous support creates a safe and suppportive community that brings hope to the hearts of families, just like Sawyer's. Thank you for believing in and advancing the mission of HopeKids! With hope, Brian Anderson, Executive Director HopeKids Minnesota ![]() Greetings! Thank you for your continued interest in HopeKids Minnesota. Take a minute to look at our new HopeNotes magazine which features a few of our favorite events from each chapter as well as videos and stories highlighting the impact you have made on families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition. Last weekend, HopeKids held its 10th annual 5k/10k run + walk. The newly-branded Hope K conveys the importance of hope in helping us go the distance. Special thanks to Tradition Companies and its trade partners who always go the distance to provide hope to Minnesota families. This is the 10th year this event has been sponsored by Tradition and held at the beautiful Spirit of Brandtjen Farm in Lakeville. Through their support and the amazing support of families, friends and neighbors, HopeKids surpassed its goal of $70,000! With Hope, Brian Anderson, Executive Director HopeKids Minnesota ![]() Dear Friends of HopeKids, Recently, we united strong men and women with stronger children during the 5th annual Relentless Powerlifting kick-off event. This event is a highlight for many HopeKids and their families including Ryan - an imaginative, 5-year-old leukemia warrior who loves Legos and dinosaurs. "Ryan had SO much fun at the Relentless kickoff event! The whole way home he kept saying, 'I'm a strong man too!' Everyone was so amazing with him and made him feel special. He's been telling everyone at the clinic that he played tug of war against Superman and Aquaman and he WON! Each one of these events helps our family create memories that we otherwise wouldn't be able to experience." – Kelly, Ryan's mom Thank you for restoring hope to Minnesota families, like Ryan's. With Hope, Brian Anderson Executive Director HopeKids Minnesota Greetings! Your faithful support has allowed us to continue to grow our HopeDay program and strengthen families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition. Extended hospital stays and overwhelming medical bills can add stress to the family unit. Rebecca, Kellie’s mom, shares: “This organization has helped bring our family together. We spent so much of our lives apart and in hospitals. HopeKids has been a godsend for us. We could never afford to attend these events with our whole family and her PCA. She can hardly wait to see what we get to do next.” You can read more and view photos from our recent HopeDay events in our spring newsletter. We have some exciting facts from last year to share with you as well! Click the video link below to see the 2017 highlights of our chapter. ![]() Dear Friends of HopeKids, One of the many things I love about HopeKids is walking with a family through the entire journey, no matter where that journey takes them. For some, it’s a celebration of remission and end of treatment. For others, it means saying their last goodbyes to their child. For the Jackson family, their son, Daniel, passed away on April 1, 2016. Daniel’s mom, Jaci, shares: “I just wanted to take a minute and say ‘thank you.’ Daniel's birthday is Saturday and it has been such a huge blessing to have super fun things to look forward to on our calendar this week. We love hockey and basketball games. While neither of these take away the pain of missing Daniel, having them to look forward to has provided fun memories and moments with my other four children. Thank you. We are so very grateful. I feel like these words fall flat in expressing our gratitude, but we are so thankful.” Thank you for each hour that you give of your time, dollar that you donate, and resource that you pour into families - like Daniel’s. Your support matters because hope is a powerful medicine even in the darkest hours. With Hope, Brian Anderson, Executive Director HopeKids Minnesota |
