![]() I praise God for you, and for how He has used you to bless the children of Niños de Mexico this year. Our families are preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus and all He did by coming to this earth. We celebrate His entrance into this world as a baby and God intervening to give us a new hope and a future. He had prepared long before to set us free from the power of sin and Satan through His Son. This year you have blessed 104 different children in our homes. You have helped them to see life through different lenses - lenses of hope and a future very different than they had before coming to Niños. I praise God that 25 kids have arrived into our homes since last December. It is great to see them adapting well in the families where they have been WELCOMED. As you prepare for Christmas, say a prayer for your brothers and sisters in Mexico who are growing in His grace and mercy through the homes and the churches with which Niños is partnering. May you and your family worship the Lord and give thanks for all that He has done through the birth of His Son. May God bless each of you along with your families. May He move in your hearts and minds in a special way during this holiday season. I hope this email finds you doing well and staying warm! Here in Minnesota we just had a blanketing of snow that made the commute a little interesting. So it looks like we'll be having a white Christmas! It has been an exciting Fall at GoCorps! When I joined the staff in 2015, there were 7 full-time GoCorps staff. This past fall, we had 12 full-time staff coaching, mobilizing, and preparing a new generation of young people who are following God's calling on their lives to go to the Nations to spread the Gospel! For 2018 we have nearly 100 placements available, which is the most we have been able to list! From serving as a Dairy Farm Manager in Eastern Europe, to being a Medical Specialist in Southeast Asia, to being a Refugee Ministry Worker in the US, we have exciting and diverse opportunities! Currently we have 33 completed applications and another 40 students working on them. We are praying for 50 Goers this year with our first application deadline, March 1st, quickly approaching. Since this is kind of my Christmas card, below are a couple of recent pictures of the Nelsons for your enjoyment. Olivia is in first grade and loves everything about school. Eden loves playing anything with her sisters and friends. Brielle is learning words at an amazing rate! And Jackie and I try to keep up with all three of them! As 2017 comes to an end and I "count my many blessings" please know that you are one of the many! You have played such a huge role in my ministry to reach the unreached for God's Kingdom. Thank you for your prayers and support throughout the year! Mike & Jackie Olivia, Eden, & Brielle Some things you can definitely be praying about are:
![]() EMANUEL - "GOD WITH US" It's the perfect time of year to update family and friends on our year of 2017. Our year working with the students kept us busy with times of praying, devotions, studying God's Word, counseling, crying and laughing. We said good-bye to graduates in May and welcomed new students in August. Plus, we were able to attend the 25th Anniversary of the Ontañon Church of Christ, October 8, which we began in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Our mission was in charge at a summer youth camp in Northern Mexico and was able to assist victims of the September earthquake in Puebla, Mexico, November 27 to December 1. Throughout Mexico, God is with us. Our family added one more grandchild, Jackson Miles Gargano, parents, Mari (DeBolt) and Tony are so happy to have Jack (born 5-25-17). Then we were blessed to attend Efrain's (one of our Casa de Niños boys) wedding on October 14. This time of year we think of our blessing from 2017. Thanks to to the Lord we have been blessed with our family and ministry, Emanual Mexico Mission, God with us. WE ARE SO THANKFUL FOR THOSE WHO FAITHFULLY SUPPORTED US DURING 2017 FINANCIALLY. Your offerings help us carry out the mission work we have been called to do in Mexico. We know there are many needs calling your attention for help. For that reason we consider it a privilege to receive your help and work with you for the Kingdom of God. As 2017 comes to a close, would you help us once again bring in the new year by supporting our work together with you throughout Mexico. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR FAITHFUL SUPPORT AS WE SERVE AND REACH OUT TO THOSE IN NEED. BECAUSE YOU GIVE, WE CONTINUE TO PROCLAIM THE MESSAGE OF THE BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST. Matthew 1:18-23 "This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about '....The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel', which means, 'God with us' ". ![]() Dear Ministry Partner, We are thankful for your partnership with GoCorps! Your past financial support has allowed us to send out over 150 GOERs since our inception in 2009. Our goal is to make mid-term missions a new norm in our nation and to be sending 250 GOERs/year by 2023! Think of the eternal impact if thousands of young people would choose to spend 2 years of their lives using their degrees to serve Christ in nations where the Gospel has not been fully proclaimed. Here are a few reasons we are confident our unique approach will allow us to reach this goal:
Our GOERs are coming back changed forever with a heart for missions borne out of personal experience. Attached is a “2017 Year in Review” that includes one such story. I hope it encourages you, as much as it does me. As you plan your year-end giving, please consider a tax-deductible financial gift to support more GOERs! Our GOERs raise their personal support so your gift goes to recruit, coach and equip them for their assignments, to match them with established Sending Partners on-location and to cover $2500 of their student loan debt. To give, go to www.GoCorps.org/give or mail a check (payable to GoCorps) to 6736 Regent Ave N, Brooklyn Center, MN 55429. GoCorps is an accredited member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA). Thanks again for your vital partnership in the Gospel with us, Paul Van Der Werf Founder and Executive Director ![]() Thanks to our home church (Valley Christian Church in Lakeville, MN) for inviting us to give an update a few Sundays ago. We feel very loved and we also saw an increase in our monthly support from 68% to 72.1%. The monthly amount we have left to raise by next spring is $1949. We will have a newsletter coming out in December. Thanks again to everyone for your prayers an support. ![]() The past month has been hectic. We have visited 6 supporting churches and have 2 more speaking engagements arranged for December. We have been blessed to renew acquaintances and meet some new people. The weather has been good to us. We had a little snow, but it didn't last, and it hasn't been very cold. We have been able to spend some time with family. We traveled to Branson with Michael's two brothers and their wives for a few days of vacation. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the programs and meals we had together. What a wonderful place to visit. They had started the Christmas programs and it really put us in the mood for the holidays! After Branson we went to The International Conference on Missions in Peoria. We had a meeting with our advisory board while we were in Peoria since it was a convenient place for our four board members to meet. They gave us some great advice and we were encouraged to refocus our ministry on more local ministries in South Africa and avoid the long trips. The ICOM was a blessing as we were able to see a lot of people we knew. We met former South African missionaries, former Bible College classmates, church people and other friends. The worship sessions were a blessing and we enjoyed some good workshops. I picked up a "bug" somewhere in Branson or Peoria so have been coughing a lot the past week. I am feeling much better now and it seems Michael escaped the "bug" for which we are both thankful. We will celebrate Christmas with the Stanleys on December 26. Then we will get our suitcases packed and leave the US on December 29. Our plan is to be back in South Africa for Michael's sister's daughter's wedding in January. Michael's two US brothers will also be at the wedding so all the siblings will be together - which doesn't happen often! Then we are looking forward to the birth of our grandchild number 7 to John and Diane in April. Later in the year we will come back to the US to visit more of our supporters. Pray for safe travels for all of us who will be traveling over the next couple of months and for the safe arrival of the baby! CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW FOR DECEMBER NEWSLETTER ![]()
