"I have learned...."
It says in Philipians 4:11 "I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances." For seven days during the month of March and the first 5 days of April, 2021, Jose had the privilege to learn to be content whatever the circumstances dealt him. He went on a missions trip to the southern most part of Mexico, Chiapas which borders with Guatemala. He ventured into an unknown for him into this very rugged terrain hill country of Mexico. His mission was to preach, teach and encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ in this somewhat forgotten part of Mexico. While many are traveling north across the U.S., Mexico border, Jose went south. He said many have abandoned their homes and properties in this part of the country for a better life in the Unites States but there are still many living in the most humble of conditions and circumstances in these remote villages. He said their number one need is for more preachers in this area. One minister, Felipe, is getting older and is just plain worn out physically, Jose said. It was encouraging though to see faithful saints gather together to worship and sing praises to God and to sit attentively to hear the Word preached. It says we should pray for the harvest fields and for more workers to be sent out. Matthew 9:38 Pray for Chiapas, Mexico and for Guatemala. "I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or want. I can do all things through him who gives me strength. Philipians 4:11-13 The apostle Paul is thankful for those who have shared with him in spreading the Gospel message to those most in need. We are humbled by your continued gifts and prayers given to E.M.M. and its many ministries to the inner city of San Luis Potosi and beyond. We truly thank you for your continued support and prayers. Yesterday, we got an email saying that our flight to America was cancelled! This is at least the 3rd time this has happened, so I wasn't too worried. The airline we're flying with is giving free re-bookings when there is a change in itinerary. However, it wasn't just a difference of a day or 2, it was a difference of weeks. The next available flight is on May 8th, and we were scheduled to fly on April 19th. Elina's home country is experiencing a surge in Covid-19 cases - though thankfully, not in her home state, where the numbers are still quite low. The national government has decided, therefore, to stop international flights for a few weeks. Sigh. Please pray that there would not be another delay, and that we'll be able to return on May 8. It's not horrible, but it is a challenge to be in transition for so long, and not know how long it may last. Life at Elina's sister's house is going pretty well. The food is tasty, there are lots of family and relatives to spend time with, and I'm teaching Elina how to drive a stick-shift. On the downside, mosquitos! Livy has got bites all over. Electricity is sporadic, so it's hard to stay cool in the heat sometimes, and hard to cook, etc. Also, the kids have to take online exams, with unreliable power and slow internet, and it's late at night because of the time difference with the USA. Jane is done, and we think she did fine. Linus is next week - please pray for electricity (and batteries) to last, and internet to work well enough for him. Thank you for praying.
