HOpe kids hope notes update - FALL 2022

10/6/2022

Picture

Greetings! Each and every one of you contribute to HopeKids' mission in a unique way. You have a story behind what led you to give, volunteer or become a partner in providing hope. When you share that story with your community, you multiply ours. We are so grateful for all the ways you help us provide hope, and for the others you've invited to join you in being generous of time, talents and treasures.

Take a minute to look at the fall HopeNotes magazine to read about a long-time partnership providing hope through t-shirts and to see photos of the summer's best events. You're a blessing to HopeKids and the families we serve who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition!

HOPEKIDS SUMMER UPDATE 2022

6/22/2022

Picture
Greetings!
At HopeKids, events can be simple--like a movie screening or high profile--like attending a concert from the luxury of a private suite. Regardless of the event, or how many families in attendance, one thing remains constant: Impact. Kids can meet friends who also have a feeding tube and parents can empathize over battles with insurance. Big or small, the community, hope for the future and acceptance discovered at events are profound. Take a minute to look at the summer HopeNotes magazine to read an article written by a HopeKids mom sharing anecdotes of her family's most impactful moments participating in the program.
Your support provides the big and small, but equally impactful, events that make up HopeKids ongoing calendar of free events. We're grateful that you understand it's so much more than just an event. It's about the hope for the future you provide families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition.
With hope,
Brian Anderson, Executive Director
HopeKids Minnesota

HOPEKIDS UPDATE - MARCH 2022

3/23/2022

Picture
Greetings!
HopeKids' events focus on the whole family because siblings of children who have a life-threatening medical condition can be unintentionally overlooked due to the attention needed to care for a child with unique needs. In fact, studies show 80% of siblings have elevated levels of post-traumatic stress, which makes including them in events all the more crucial. Take a minute to look at the spring HopeNotes magazine to learn about HopeKids through the perspective of artwork created by siblings, and read about our long-time partnership with the Colten Cowell Foundation.

Thank you for providing opportunities for families to spend time together and helping siblings to feel special. Your support of HopeKids continues to further the mission to provide hope--and hope is a powerful medicine!

With Hope,
Brian Anderson, Executive Director

HOPE KIDS - PRAYER LETTER - FEB 2022

2/4/2022

Dear Prayer Warriors,

We wish you nothing but health and happiness as we enter into the month of February! Please continue to pray for the list below as well as the couple specific requests. You can view the February Prayer Calendar HERE.

  • Our families remain safe and healthy - especially during the holiday season!
  • All families receive the necessary resources, supplies, and help they need.
  • Our HopeKids receive the essential care (therapy, surgeries, etc.) that is needed.
  • All families continue to feel the sense of community within HopeKids.
  • Our families who have lost their HopeKid or another loved one.
  • All HopeKids who are currently in the hospital.
  • Finally, all families feel God’s peace, presence, and hope in the midst of the unknown.

HopeKid Mom April
Please pray for April as she was diagnosed with breast cancer in April and is still in treatment. Pray for the next stages in my treatment plan, restored health, and for her family as well.

Fields Family
Please pray for the Fields family as they just lost their dear HopeKid, Cary Lynn. Please pray for healing for the whole family and specifically for her brother, Marvin, who misses his sister and is having challenges.

With Hope,
Ariel

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”

HOPEKIDS UPDATE | SEPTEMBER 2020

9/16/2020

Greetings!

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and while HopeKids encompasses children with any life-threatening medical condition, many of them are battling cancer. Take a minute to look at the fall HopeNotes magazine which features Daleyza, a 4-year-old leukemia warrior, who is conquering her treatment with hope for the future. The magazine also highlights how your support provides free events that focus on five research-driven impact areas.

As we continue to offer virtual events and slowly transition back into offering small and safe in-person events, we’re thankful for your continued generosity. Many of you have participated in fundraising events, hosted virtual events for families, and given graciously. Your overwhelming support fills us with hope!

With Hope,
Brian Anderson, Executive Director

HOPEKIDS UPDATE & MAGAZINE SUMMER 2020

6/15/2020

Greetings!

It didn’t take long for us to learn the benefits, beyond COVID-19, in always providing virtual programming. Many of our families experience isolation during the cold and flu season, or are confined to hospital beds for weeks or even months at a time. We’re improving as an organization by supporting families, regardless of their location, and connecting families across HopeKids chapters. Take a minute to look at the summer HopeNotes magazine to read about our virtual programming and a new national partnership with Let's Roam that has resulted.

Over the last three months, your support has provided more than 180 virtual events across chapters. These virtual events are invaluable to our families who are craving connection and hope. In this challenging time, we need the support of friends like you now more than ever. If you're interested in hosting an event, please let me know or you can donate here. Thank you for believing that hope (even virtually) is a powerful medicine!

With Hope,
Brian Anderson, Executive Director
HopeKids Minnesota

P.S. Registration is open for the Coleberry Golf Tournament on August 3, 2020. Sign-up and info at www.hopekids.org/coleberry.

HOPEKIDS UPDATE - JULY 2019

7/15/2019

Picture
Hanna, Anders and Henrik at the Minnetonka Squadron event on Big Island in June.
"With constant streams of bills, my husband and I have found it difficult and frivolous to spend money on outings for the five of us. Even going to a movie would be more than we would want to spend. We also are concerned with germs and crowds. Most [HopeKids] events have sanitary precautions in place to keep all of our kiddos safe. It is so nice to meet other families who, although do not share the same medical condition, share a common understanding and certainly respect." -Melinda, Hanna’s mom

For families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition, simply leaving the house can be a challange for a number of reasons. Aside from financial concerns, immunocompromised children have to take extra precautions to ensure they avoid illnesses which can delay vital treatments or worsen their condition. Many HopeKids events are private to provide a safer environment for families, like Hanna's.

Your support alleviates some of the challenges that these families face. Thank you for providing a safe environment through an ongoing calendar of free events!

With Hope,
Brian Anderson, Executive Director
HopeKids Minnesota

P.S. Join us on August 5th for The Coleberry Tournament. Sponsorship opportunities are available as well as foursomes. Register now!

Greetings!

You may not realize the incredible impact you have on families, like Jonathan's, who found a supportive community among other families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition. Take a minute to look at the Summer HopeNotes Magazine which highlights families who discovered hope and community through HopeKids.

Your support provides much more than a calendar of free events. It also helps families connect and refocus on the future. Thank you for believing in and furthering our mission!

With Hope,
Brian Anderson, Executive Director
HopeKids Minnesota

P.S. Registration for our annual golf tournament on Monday, August 5 is open at www.hopekids.org/coleberry. We hope you can join us!
