Greetings!
At HopeKids, events can be simple--like a movie screening or high profile--like attending a concert from the luxury of a private suite. Regardless of the event, or how many families in attendance, one thing remains constant: Impact. Kids can meet friends who also have a feeding tube and parents can empathize over battles with insurance. Big or small, the community, hope for the future and acceptance discovered at events are profound. Take a minute to look at the summer HopeNotes magazine to read an article written by a HopeKids mom sharing anecdotes of her family's most impactful moments participating in the program. Your support provides the big and small, but equally impactful, events that make up HopeKids ongoing calendar of free events. We're grateful that you understand it's so much more than just an event. It's about the hope for the future you provide families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition. With hope, Brian Anderson, Executive Director HopeKids Minnesota Greetings!
HopeKids' events focus on the whole family because siblings of children who have a life-threatening medical condition can be unintentionally overlooked due to the attention needed to care for a child with unique needs. In fact, studies show 80% of siblings have elevated levels of post-traumatic stress, which makes including them in events all the more crucial. Take a minute to look at the spring HopeNotes magazine to learn about HopeKids through the perspective of artwork created by siblings, and read about our long-time partnership with the Colten Cowell Foundation. Thank you for providing opportunities for families to spend time together and helping siblings to feel special. Your support of HopeKids continues to further the mission to provide hope--and hope is a powerful medicine! With Hope, Brian Anderson, Executive Director HopeKids Minnesota Dear Prayer Warriors,
We wish you nothing but health and happiness as we enter into the month of February! Please continue to pray for the list below as well as the couple specific requests. You can view the February Prayer Calendar HERE.
Please pray for April as she was diagnosed with breast cancer in April and is still in treatment. Pray for the next stages in my treatment plan, restored health, and for her family as well. Fields Family Please pray for the Fields family as they just lost their dear HopeKid, Cary Lynn. Please pray for healing for the whole family and specifically for her brother, Marvin, who misses his sister and is having challenges. With Hope, Ariel “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 -- Ariel Lindahl, Family and Community Manager HopeKids Minnesota | "Restoring Hope. "With constant streams of bills, my husband and I have found it difficult and frivolous to spend money on outings for the five of us. Even going to a movie would be more than we would want to spend. We also are concerned with germs and crowds. Most [HopeKids] events have sanitary precautions in place to keep all of our kiddos safe. It is so nice to meet other families who, although do not share the same medical condition, share a common understanding and certainly respect." -Melinda, Hanna’s mom
For families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition, simply leaving the house can be a challange for a number of reasons. Aside from financial concerns, immunocompromised children have to take extra precautions to ensure they avoid illnesses which can delay vital treatments or worsen their condition. Many HopeKids events are private to provide a safer environment for families, like Hanna's. Your support alleviates some of the challenges that these families face. Thank you for providing a safe environment through an ongoing calendar of free events! With Hope, Brian Anderson, Executive Director HopeKids Minnesota P.S.
