HOPEKIDS UPDATE | SEPTEMBER 2020

9/16/2020

Greetings!

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and while HopeKids encompasses children with any life-threatening medical condition, many of them are battling cancer. Take a minute to look at the fall HopeNotes magazine which features Daleyza, a 4-year-old leukemia warrior, who is conquering her treatment with hope for the future. The magazine also highlights how your support provides free events that focus on five research-driven impact areas.

As we continue to offer virtual events and slowly transition back into offering small and safe in-person events, we’re thankful for your continued generosity. Many of you have participated in fundraising events, hosted virtual events for families, and given graciously. Your overwhelming support fills us with hope!

With Hope,
Brian Anderson, Executive Director

HOPEKIDS UPDATE & MAGAZINE SUMMER 2020

6/15/2020

Greetings!

It didn’t take long for us to learn the benefits, beyond COVID-19, in always providing virtual programming. Many of our families experience isolation during the cold and flu season, or are confined to hospital beds for weeks or even months at a time. We’re improving as an organization by supporting families, regardless of their location, and connecting families across HopeKids chapters. Take a minute to look at the summer HopeNotes magazine to read about our virtual programming and a new national partnership with Let's Roam that has resulted.

Over the last three months, your support has provided more than 180 virtual events across chapters. These virtual events are invaluable to our families who are craving connection and hope. In this challenging time, we need the support of friends like you now more than ever. If you're interested in hosting an event, please let me know or you can donate here. Thank you for believing that hope (even virtually) is a powerful medicine!

With Hope,
Brian Anderson, Executive Director
HopeKids Minnesota

P.S. Registration is open for the Coleberry Golf Tournament on August 3, 2020. Sign-up and info at www.hopekids.org/coleberry.

HOPEKIDS UPDATE - JULY 2019

7/15/2019

Picture
Hanna, Anders and Henrik at the Minnetonka Squadron event on Big Island in June.
"With constant streams of bills, my husband and I have found it difficult and frivolous to spend money on outings for the five of us. Even going to a movie would be more than we would want to spend. We also are concerned with germs and crowds. Most [HopeKids] events have sanitary precautions in place to keep all of our kiddos safe. It is so nice to meet other families who, although do not share the same medical condition, share a common understanding and certainly respect." -Melinda, Hanna’s mom

For families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition, simply leaving the house can be a challange for a number of reasons. Aside from financial concerns, immunocompromised children have to take extra precautions to ensure they avoid illnesses which can delay vital treatments or worsen their condition. Many HopeKids events are private to provide a safer environment for families, like Hanna's.

Your support alleviates some of the challenges that these families face. Thank you for providing a safe environment through an ongoing calendar of free events!

HOPEKIDS - MINNESOTA - SUMMER 2019

Greetings!

You may not realize the incredible impact you have on families, like Jonathan's, who found a supportive community among other families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition. Take a minute to look at the Summer HopeNotes Magazine which highlights families who discovered hope and community through HopeKids.

Your support provides much more than a calendar of free events. It also helps families connect and refocus on the future. Thank you for believing in and furthering our mission!

P.S. Registration for our annual golf tournament on Monday, August 5 is open at www.hopekids.org/coleberry. We hope you can join us!

SPRING HOPENOTES MAGAZINE

Greetings!

Thank you for your continued support of HopeKids Minnesota as we spring into a new season of serving over 1,400 families. Take a minute to look at the Spring HopeNotes Magazine which highlights the impact you have made since HopeKids launched its first chapter in 2001.

HopeKids' ongoing calendar of events wouldn't be possible without the support of committed donors, volunteers and event partners. Thank you for providing hope for the future to families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition!

HOPE KIDS MINNESOTA UPDATE

Dear Friends of HopeKids,

In 2018, your support provided 504 events to 1,409 families - many days, multiple events were taking place! More importantly, you provided a safe community for families to meet others who understand the toll that medical bills and hospital visits can have on families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition. A two-hour event can have a lasting impact when you meet new friends who become family.

"I can’t explain the feeling we had being surrounded by parents who 'get it.' It was wonderful being somewhere we don’t feel out of place. Each and every person understood Sawyer and what it’s like to live in our shoes. It’s wonderful to be able to exhange information and ideas with families, as well. We had a wonderful time and feel so blessed to have found HopeKids to help us feel included in an oftentimes excluded life." - Francie, Sawyer’s mom

Your generous support creates a safe and suppportive community that brings hope to the hearts of families, just like Sawyer's. Thank you for believing in and advancing the mission of HopeKids!

With hope,
Brian Anderson, Executive Director

Greetings!

Thank you for your continued interest in HopeKids Minnesota. Take a minute to look at our new HopeNotes magazine which features a few of our favorite events from each chapter as well as videos and stories highlighting the impact you have made on families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition.

Last weekend, HopeKids held its 10th annual 5k/10k run + walk. The newly-branded Hope K conveys the importance of hope in helping us go the distance. Special thanks to Tradition Companies and its trade partners who always go the distance to provide hope to Minnesota families. This is the 10th year this event has been sponsored by Tradition and held at the beautiful Spirit of Brandtjen Farm in Lakeville. Through their support and the amazing support of families, friends and neighbors, HopeKids surpassed its goal of $70,000!

HOPEKIDS UPDATE

5/10/2018

Dear Friends of HopeKids,

Recently, we united strong men and women with stronger children during the 5th annual Relentless Powerlifting kick-off event.  This event is a highlight for many HopeKids and their families including Ryan - an imaginative, 5-year-old leukemia warrior who loves Legos and dinosaurs.

"Ryan had SO much fun at the Relentless kickoff event! The whole way home he kept saying, 'I'm a strong man too!' Everyone was so amazing with him and made him feel special. He's been telling everyone at the clinic that he played tug of war against Superman and Aquaman and he WON! Each one of these events helps our family create memories that we otherwise wouldn't be able to experience."     – Kelly, Ryan's mom

Thank you for restoring hope to Minnesota families, like Ryan's. If you are interested in attending the 2018 Relentless Powerlifting competition presented by TSR Injury Law in July, please visit www.relentlesspowerlifting.com.

With Hope,
Brian Anderson
